There is growing consensus among people about benefits of using Organic products. This unique rise in demand has resulted in many upcoming startups with unique business models, aimed at solving this modern day crisis. This post lists 6 organic food startups to look forward to.

Indian Organic Food Market

Since 2010-2011, the organic market in India witnessed a considerable growth. According to a TechSci Research report, India Organic Food Market By Product Type, Competition Forecast and Opportunities, 2011 – 2021, India’s organic food market is estimated to grow at a CAGR of over 25 percent during 2016-2021.

A report by Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham) highlights that the organic foods market projected to hit ₹ 10,000 crore by 2020 (ref). According to department of Commerce, GOI, the country ranks first in terms of total number of organic producers and 9th in terms of world’s organic agricultural land and India’s overall organic food export realization was around $515.44 million in 2017-18(ref).

Presently, Just Organik offers organic products like cereals, pulses, millets, oils, spices, sweeteners, tea etc. Based out of Delhi, Just Organic has been certified by India Organic, USDA and EU organic standards, and is also recognised by DIPP, Government of India, under the Start Up India initiative.

2. Naturally Yours

Naturally Yours was started in March 2010 by Mr. Vinod Kumar & Ms. Priya Prakash. The idea behind starting Naturally Yours was to enable customers to access all stuff organic in one single place.

Over the years Naturally Yours has added over 100+ products and now works with hundreds of farmers/farmer groups across India. This company also provides processed food such as kheer, oil, ghee, etc along with the household essentials.

3. Joy By Nature

Joy By Nature aims to make accessible natural products to enhance your well-being and the quality of your day-to-day life. Joy By Nature was founded in 2014 by Shailesh Mehta and Rahul Kumar and in just one year of operations, the company was able to secure $1 million (Rs 6.4 crore) in a pre-Series A.

Joybynature has over 35,000 customer, offers about 10,000 products and also provides expert advice on wellbeing through live chats.

And so EarthFood grows food naturally and in an eco-friendly way. It uses a healthy mix of traditional methods and innovation to keep pollution and wastage to a minimum.

6. I Say Organic

I Say Organic was founded by Ashmeet Kapoor, an engineer from the University of British Columbia and Brown University. The enterprise aims to provide people the option of eating safe food (grown without toxic chemicals and pesticides), while recognizing and supporting farmers who grow this food.
