Slow Fashion for Children, Made to Order
Organic by nature. Joyful by design.
Somewhere in India right now, a child is outgrowing a garment they’ve worn for three months. It ends up in a landfill, tagged as waste — one of millions of pieces of children’s clothing made by the thousands, worn briefly, and discarded each year.
This reality haunted Meenal, an engineer and MBA, until she decided to refuse it entirely. In 2024, she founded Anaario, a slow fashion kidswear brand built on a radical principle: make nothing that isn’t already wanted.

Founder
Meenal
An engineer and MBA by training, Meenal spent years searching for children’s clothing that matched the standard she wanted for her own family — genuine craftsmanship, imagination, and care. Unable to find it in the Indian market, she decided to build it herself, refusing the fast-fashion playbook of speculative production entirely.
“Slowness is the entire point.”
The Problem She Saw
For years, Meenal searched for quality children’s clothing that matched her standards — pieces with genuine craftsmanship, imagination, and care. What she found in the Indian market fell short. So she looked to Europe, ordering special pieces for her nieces and nephews. But the question that emerged was obvious: Why can’t we make this here?
The answer, she discovered, lay not just in fabric choice — but in the entire production model. Children’s clothing, like fast fashion for adults, is made speculatively. Factories produce thousands of units, hoping some will sell. The rest? Deadstock. Waste. An invisible cost absorbed by the environment.
The Anaario Answer: Made to Order
Anaario operates on a fundamentally different model. When you place an order, the piece is made. Not before. Not speculatively. That single garment, for that one child.
The impact is profound:
- Almost no wasted fabric — cutting begins only after an order is confirmed
- Zero unsold stock — no warehouse holding surplus inventory
- Genuine care in every seam — the pace of production allows for unhurried, thoughtful craftsmanship
- 100% organic clothing, certified GOTS and OEKO-TEX, so what touches your child’s skin is clean
Every piece is cut and stitched only once it’s wanted — a quiet discipline that keeps waste out of the equation from the very first cut.
Slow Fashion Needn’t Be Serious
Meenal’s philosophy is clear: slowness is the point, but it doesn’t mean severity. Childhood is loud, full of wonder, and the clothes reflect that. Whimsical prints. Fearless colour. A small crowned pomegranate on every label — Anaario’s quiet signature.
Each piece is designed to outlast a single season. Durable enough to be worn again and again. Handed down from one child to the next. The true opposite of disposable — a philosophy shared by the founders and changemakers profiled across Prakati.
For Parents Who Care
Anaario ships internationally and serves ages newborn to 15 years. If you’ve ever felt the friction between wanting quality, sustainable fashion, and playfulness in children’s clothing — this is where all three meet.
