Organic Honey
Natural Organic Honey
We all love the taste of honey, which is a very prominent ingredient, especially in Indian kitchens. It is wholesome, delectable, and unbelievably sweet! Honey has the power to instantaneously take you to another world. But are you aware of different types of honey such as organic honey? No? Don’t worry, keep on reading to learn about it.
What is Organic honey?
Organic honey is made from the pollen of organically grown plants and does not use chemical miticides to treat the bees. By purchasing organic honey, you can be confident that you won’t come into touch with pesticides that might be applied to or close to the plants that honeybees visit.
How Is Organic Honey Collected?
Honeybees feed organically from flowers, and they will visit any flower that has the optimum nectar-producing qualities. This could be a flower that is three kilometres or less from their colony. They aim to maximise their time and effort. The only way for beekeepers to make their bees visit organic flowers is to relocate the colony to an area with solely organic blooms. The honey made from those flowers is only organic after that.
A hive will typically produce roughly 55 pounds of extra honey per year. Beekeepers gather the honeycomb frames and remove the wax coating that bees create to seal off the honey in each cell to harvest it. The frames are put in an extractor, a centrifuge that spins them in order to force the honey out of the comb, once the caps have been taken off.
Difference between Organic & Forest Honey
Organic honey is something that bees collect nectar from flowers to make typical honey. However, bees gather honeydew from trees to make forest honey, which is why the name.
Forest honey is by definition organic honey because it is made from herbs and medicinal plants found in the wild. As the bees visit different flowers in the forest to make this honey, forest honey is multi-floral. It is also referred to as tree honey or honeydew honey. As its name implies, it is mostly made of trees rather than smaller plants, and its composition varies depending on the flower from which honeybees collect nectar. However, only in limited quantities can forest honey be made from plants and grasses. Forest honey often has a deeper colour; some species almost look black.
